According to History.com, “the first practical schematics for the internet would not arrive until the early 1960s,” when Joseph Carl Robnett Licklider came up with a vision of using computer networks to communicate. Shortly after, computer scientists created a method to transmit electronic data known as “packet switching.” This would become an important building block for the internet, according to History.com.

In the late 1960s, with the creation of the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network, which was funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, the “first workable prototype of the Internet” was born. With ARPANET multiple computers were able to communicate with one another on a single network.

The search engine Google was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, but the idea for it was born by the two creators in 1995 in a Stanford university dorm room.
After originally calling it Backrub, the pair set out to create a search engine capable of using “links to determine the importance of individual pages on the World Wide Web,” according to Google.

【まとめ】日本でインターネットが広まったのは１９９５年くらい
確か記憶しているのが日本でインターネットが広まったのはWindows９５が発売されたあたりです
それまではWindows3.1とかいう白黒の分かりにくい画面のパソコンが使われていてとてもじゃないけどパソコンが人々にとって普遍的な物として扱われていなかったわけです
私もWin3.1とか現物をみたことないんで正直分かりませんが恐らく企業とか政府などの公的機関とか限られた場所で使われているだけだったはずです
その後Win95が販売されて一気に日本でも家庭でインターネットが広がっていったということ
そういう意味でインターネットの歴史は少なくともアメリカより日本の方が浅いということがわかります
１９８３年にアメリカでインターネットができたわけで日本は１０年くらい遅れているわけですね
海外から日本に新しいものが伝わるまでに大体１０年くらいラグがあるということも面白さがあります
恐らく今は情報が発展しているので欧米などで新しくできたサービスや技術が日本に伝わるまで１～２年くらい遅れて入ってくるイメージでしょうか
東京で放送されたテレビドラマなどの番組が１週間遅れで大阪で放送されることにも似ていますねｗ
そういうIT系の記事は英語としては読みやすいし英語の勉強だけでなく教養として知識を身に付けるにも非常に役立ちます
